Department of Fire Safety Engineering and Systems Safety

Welcome to the Department of Fire Safety Engineering and Systems Safety’s homepage. The department has a unique position in terms of research and education in the area of fire, risk and safety. In 1986 the department was the key to the establishment of the first education on university level in fire protection engineering in Europe. Since 1986 more than 500 Fire Protection engineers on Bachelors level have graduated from Lund University. Since 2001 the department is the key department in an educational programme in risk management and safety engineering offered by Lund University on a Masters level from which approximately 200 students have graduated.   

Both the research and the education conducted by the personnel at the department can be divided into two different (although related) areas: Fire safety engineering and Systems safety.
