The International Water Mist Association (IWMA) has just had their annual meeting in Vienna on the 21st and 22nd of September 2016.

In order to further research into the area of water mist the IWMA has for the first time awarded a prize for the best master’s thesis. Next year the award will go to the best PhD thesis.

Daniel Martin from “The International Master of Science in Fire Safety Engineering” (IMSFE) was presented with the “IWMA Young Talent Award” for his thesis “The Use of a Water Mist Curtain as a Radiation Shield”. He carried out his thesis at Lund University in 2015 and also graduated in the same year.

Daniel Martin, who has been a volunteer firefighter, now works for Jensen Hughes, Inc. as an associate Fire Protection Engineer at the company headquarters in Baltimore, USA.
